How to Make Your Health Term Paper Great

August 27th, 2008

Writing a health term paper can be somewhat difficult, simply because you have to be so thorough and meticulous.  However, health in general and the many disciplines associated with it in particular are nothing less than fascinating.  Looking at these term papers that way can greatly reduce the burden of writing about them.  The real key here is choosing a topic in which you are intensely interested.  As with any other subject, that is the best way to write a really good custom research paper.

You cannot discount the importance inherent in writing a health term paper either.  Pay attention to this section, because it will give you something to think about when you are considering term paper ideas.  Even though this is just a term paper, you need to view it as an opportunity.  Do you realize that the subject you write about could ultimate lead to innovations in the health industry?  Your paper could be the basis for new medical technologies, new research, new procedures, or even just a new way of considering a current health problem.  You might be thinking that is highly unlikely, but really – nothing is unlikely when you get to a university!  And yes, it is entirely possible for a college term paper to achieve such status.

In terms of technicality, the format of a health term paper is the same as any other.  That is, you need the standard introduction, body, conclusion, and bibliography.  You need your cover page or title page – whatever you want to do it – as well.  You also need an abstract, which is basically just a summary describing what your paper is about, what the central argument or issue is, et cetera.  This, of course, is the easy part.  You will do well, however, to have an outline as well.  This can help you keep all your sources, facts, and sections in order, which can make the actual term paper writing process much, much easier.

Before you get to your outline, however, you need to start considering possible term paper ideas.  There are a lot of health topics out there, of course.  What you need to realize, however, is that many of them have been done to death.  You therefore need to be original and innovative when coming up with your topic.  If you feel compelled to choose a topic that has already been written about extensively, then at least only do so if you can bring something new to the research.  A good term paper depends on being interesting, inventive, informative, and above all, as thought provoking as possible.

So, if you want to write a health term paper on the increasing problem of obesity in the United States, expand on that theme.  There has been a ton of research done on that, so try to think of something new.  For example, examine the link between obesity and sleep apnea.  Other possible term paper ideas include eating disorders – anorexia, bulimia, and over eating.  Again, however, a lot has been written on these topics.  If you want to give your term paper writing some added “flair,” so to speak, why not focus on other health problems associated with teachers – such as the problem of self cutting in kids.

Creating a Comprehensive Cancer Term Paper

August 5th, 2008

There are many instances in which you may found yourself writing a cancer term paper.  Pre-med students, medical school students, as well as those planning to join various parts of the health and medical industries, such as researching, teaching, or becoming a nurse, can pretty much guarantee it.  The most important things to remember with any health term paper are that you have to be factually correct, you have to be thorough, and you have to be detailed.

This type of term paper writing requires extensive research.  So at the onset, you have to make sure that even after you have researched and written the first draft of your term paper, you will have plenty of time to edit, proofread, and rewrite as many drafts as necessary.  These types of term papers are based largely on facts.  You cannot afford to be sloppy about presenting them.

As always, a good term paper, no matter what the topic, blends facts, research, and accurate data with your own insight, opinions, and style.  Therefore, there are several different types of excellent term paper ideas which could make for a superb cancer term paper.

Perhaps, for instance, you would prefer to be completely factual.  A lot of students choose to write a health term paper which revolves solely around the existing scientific evidence on their subject of choice.  It is possible to do that with term papers about cancer as well, you just have to pare your outline down a bit and hone your ideas sharply, so that your project does not run on and on for pages.    To that end, there are several places that can help you with the term paper writing process as well.  For instance, seeking references and literature from Johns Hopkins University, Duke University, and the Mayo Clinic can be extremely valuable in offering information and source material.

You may choose to focus on a certain type of cancer, instead.  This gives you a chance to really research new information which has not been extensively examined or published yet.  Some of the best ways you can do so is by choosing to do personal research.  What that means, in this case, is that perhaps you can interview cancer patients, cancer survivors, or the friends and loved ones of someone who has or once had cancer.  This can give your cancer term paper a human touch as well as an informative one.  The best oncologists in the world have published a great deal of high quality literature on cancer, but often nothing can beat firsthand experience.  Mind, however, that if you choose to go this route, you need to be sensitive, tactful, and respectful.

Of all the possible ideas there are for writing a cancer term paper, some things need to remain the same.  Stay true to fact, present accurate information, take care to research the specifics of your chosen subject as carefully can, and approach the paper with an objective eye.  That can be very difficult, but in the end your ability to do so will shine through and speak very well for your future career in the medical field.
