MLA Format Paper for Your Research Articles

December 4th, 2008

There are at least two major formats in writing a term paper. These formats are not the usual parts construction but the citation principle. If you are not familiar with the MLA format paper, then let us talk about writing a term paper in such a system.

It does not really matter what is the true intention of a paper in using an MLA format. Technically, the main concern is the topic scope. Usually, the Modern language Association plan is use for humanities, arts, literature and sociology. So if you are thinking of argumentative papers or persuasive paper topics, the MLA format will not be a problem.

The MLA format paper follows the three guide parameter of pagination, in-text citation and bibliography page writing. Let us give you some samples for each of these parameters. The pagination technique is simple. You just have to put your last name in the upper right hand corner of each page followed by the page number.

In-text citation can be written in a form where the author’s last name and the page of his work is parenthesized. You can also directly quote a reference material for such a purpose.

“The presidential election is not a credible system of electoral process (Fryen 34)”.

The bibliography page is also necessary. You need the details like the author’s full name, the publishing date, the title of how work and the publishing company and city. You can also take a look at the previous archive articles to learn how to construct the bibliography page.

There are many other sample articles that you can download from our samples page apart from the MLA format paper. Some are examples of expository essays, narrative, and classification essays. You may get some free samples from there if you wish.

MLA Research Paper: Bibliography Entry

October 28th, 2008

A term paper can always be considered as an MLA research paper if it follows the principles of the Modern Language Association’s structure of writing. Are you having a hard time understand this kind of writing system? Then let us give you some info how you can put the entries in the bibliography page in the correct order.

An MLA research paper format does not need to be applied on a particular writing goal. You can use it in writing argumentative research paper topics, persuasive paper topics or even in a narrative article. However, when it comes to subject, the MLA is usually used for humanities, social science, politics and the arts. But still, it is a flexible type of citation system so you are better off utilizing it for other topic interests.

Now, the first thing that you need to do is to collect the details that you will be using for the bibliography page or the Works Cited page as named by the MLA format. The details should include the Authors’ full name, the date of publication, the title of his work, the city where it was published and sometimes the page numbers of the part where you will be extracting the referenced sentence.

There is a bit difference in putting the entries for the MLA compared to the APA format. The author’s full name is provided in each entry unlike in APA where the first name is represented only by the first letter. However, the remaining parts and sequence are very similar in structure for both citation schemes. Take a look below at sample entries for an MLA research paper:

Miller, Ronald. “Who are the Americans.”
The American History15 (1915): 300-391.

De Torres, Cindy. Everyday Poetry. Atlanta: Public
Press, 1945.

Sidan, Neil and John Peters. Literacy in Asia.
Manila: Daim Press, 1950.

An MLA research paper also has particular instructions to be followed when it comes to pagination and in-text citation. But let us save the details for other articles in this blogsite. MLA Format Research Paper for New Writers

October 27th, 2008

There are many kinds of formatting styles when writing a term paper. Today we will focus on the MLA format research paper to let you have an idea on how to compose such an article for research.

High school term papers are usually required to be written as an evaluation tool project. Teachers know that by implementing such a task students will be able to prepare themselves to write on more rigorous requirements when they reach college level. From argumentative papers to persuasive paper topics it is possible that the learning they will get from high school can still be applied during their undergraduate years. So how do we write an MLA format research paper?

In terms of putting the details about the writer you can actually write your name, professor’s name, subject and date at the upper left hand corner of the first page of your term paper. Unlike in an APA format where you need to provide a cover page, the MLA format research paper can accommodate these details on the very first page of the paper. Of course if you are going to write a thesis-like document, the pattern will be much different.

In an MLA format research paper the in-text citation is also the same as in the APA format. You can either use block quotations or one-line quotations. The only difference is that you need to provide the author’s last name together with the page number from where you have taken the referenced part. In addition, you may indirectly quote the author by using “According to…”, “(The Author) said…” or “based on…” terms. You can use examples of expository essays if you wish to know more how to do this.

Lastly, an MLA format research paper has a distinct pagination style. You need to write your last name at the upper right hand corner of your paper’s pages. This is to be followed by the page number as corresponded by the number of papers in the document. You can get an example of term paper when you check out the Samples page in this site.
